15 years ago, I bought my first stock.
That’s when I got serious about investing. It was the best decision to date.
At first, I had to “ctrl+c, ctrl+v” every number from the financial statements to a spreadsheet.
I tracked the last 10 years of company data — analyzed financial ratios. It was painful.
I learnt if you want to be good at investing, know your numbers.
But to master investing, you need good tools to help you.
To get started, Here’s some free financial data tools I use to break down investing insights, uncover potential stock ideas and compound my portfolios.
Not the most comprehensive, but it’s super convenient and highly informative.
Here’s my top 10 free list financial tools:
1. Tikr.com (free 5y data + 2y est.)
2. Koyfin (free 2y data + 1y est.)
3. Trading View (free 5y data)
4. TipRanks (free 5y data)
5. Macrotrends (great charts)
6. Morningstar.com (free past 5y data)
7. Yahoo! Finance (free past 3y data)
8. Finviz (I like their stock screens)
9. Gurufocus (Buffett Indicator)
10. SEC EDGAR Database (not data, but excellent search for US filings)
Also, for China/HK and Singapore stocks:
11. AA Stocks (HK data)
12. SG investors.io (Singapore brokerage reports)
13. ShareInvestor Webpro (paid, but very useful for HK and Bursa stocks)
14. Dividends.sg (Singapore dividends)
Look: no more excuses for analyzing financial statements.
Wish I had these tools earlier when I started. Saves me a truckload of time.
Sometimes, investing can be simple.
